Psalm 151 (a love poem)
O, were it so
that violent seas
all aswirl in this body
abate with the dip
of your toe
Selah
may all the anxious fires
of my skin be frightened
into smoke and carried
from me by your song
Selah
let every love I
had given to other bodies
be renounced to you
‘til all buildings be made
soil and all breath of
all bodies be ceased,
beasts of two legs,
of four, of none,
and even the creeping thing
be put to rest, eternal
Selah
Hallelujah! let every
tree-stuck fruit taste
of you, and every seed
swallowed grow into
thoughts of you alone,
resplendent in your skin
that bears ink and shines
with the glow of heaven
and it’s winged heralds
Selah
may every zephyr be
of your lungs, may I
be deaf to all sound
but your tongue,
may every kiss I catch in
my palm be from your lips,
may every song coil and
crackle about your hips
Selah
let my love for you
outshine every star born
to bring light, let it burn
through the bars of
every cage meant to
tame it
Selah
let me be your Eve
O, take my fruit and
bite down
