three haikus for fire & water
you can catch the sun
fire in your mouth, and tie it
using just your tongue
the waves are burning.
it will be easy, falling
into your love here
the sun is setting.
you told me that you aspire
to become a ghost
a brief history
I think
If I were a college textbook, I would be
titled “A Brief History of Falling From Trees”.
I’m fairly sure
that every tree I’ve ever climbed
// was just a ghost
of a tree,
// hovering,
like you would, in one hundred years
over a funeral
that you had mistaken for your own.
