I want everything in my life to be in service to Purity Ring.
April 6, 2016
AWP made April 1st an impossible post-date. So, here’s my slightly late to-read pile for April. This does not include my AWP haul. That post is forthcoming. So, with new acquisitions in bold:
Funny how some books have shifted around even though I haven’t been able to read them. Mostly because I take them somewhere and return without being able to crack them open.
EDIT/ADDENDUM: The AWP haul:
James Baldwin, obvi
Awesome Ugly Duckling Presse green t-shirt with a print of my Death Centos broadside (!!)
Theory on Falling into a Reef, Michelle Brittan Rosado
I have my work cut out for me… April is the cruelest/most bountiful month
MRI of a banana flower
it is exactly that—from the center plane
comes production, a genesis point, white as Vermeer’s sun
comes spiraling into spiraling; in one, the immediate effects
of entropy, in the other, a gradation leaning into fireworks—
the bulb in the center producing regiments of alien pods
stretched into skin, spouts cell walls in rapid motion,
total violence, the trillion-dollar effects of a banana:
Fibonacci’s exhale, matter spiraling in blurred though exact
rhythmic patterns, hot in the way I imagine the executioner’s blade
to be hot—the clean force of something’s imposition
upon nothing—exactly that, matter
tearing through negative space & so through itself,
that self-generative movement; the expansion of spheres;
a taketh away; blossoming at the touch;
time’s bellows in elliptical motion & phantom presence;
heat rescinding its offer to the black to be gone.
